Hi, I’m Jon. I’m a software engineer at Red Hat, where I work upstream on OpenStack. Most of my time goes to Cinder, the block storage service, where I’ve served as Project Technical Lead since the 2024.2 “Dalmatian” cycle.

I’ve been a Debian Developer for a long time. I help maintain the LTTng tracing toolchain in Debian (lttng-modules, lttng-tools, the userspace tracer, babeltrace, and liburcu), along with a few smaller packages like xcape and lua-iconv.

Earlier, I did research in high-performance computing, co-authoring papers on modeling and predicting I/O performance variability in parallel systems. They appeared in venues including IEEE TPDS, IPDPS, and the Journal of Parallel and Distributed Computing.

I live in Blacksburg, Virginia. Away from the keyboard I’m a father and a rock climber, and I’m slowly learning to keep house plants alive.
